September’s meetup received some of the best feedback we’ve heard for any DevStaff meetup, so we’re having a repeat, to kick off 2017 in style!We’ll be having another set of [lightning talks] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk), covering a broad range of topics, so do come – there’ll be something there for everyone. (and if a topic isn’t covered, you can just talk about it yourself!)

You are all free to present your own topics: Just add a comment with the talk title in the Meetup event page (like we did in [September] (https://www.meetup.com/DevStaff-A-Developer-Community-Gathering-In-Crete/events/233882249/).Why Hear Lightning Talks?
- Well, we all know some talks can get booooring… Or it’s a topic you know very little about and before you know it you can’t follow and you’re stuck in that chair for another 20 minutes before the next break…
- Well, with lightning talks, if the talk turns out to be dull, or if the person giving the talk turns out to be a bad speaker, well, at least it’s over in 5 minutes.
Why Give a Lightning Talk?
- You can start small: you don’t need to make slides, and if you do decide to make slides, you only need to make three.
- Maybe you don’t have much to say. You can just ask a question, or invite people to help you with your project, or boast about something you did, or tell a short cautionary story. These are all nice 5-min stories.

There’s a lot of us, devs, here in Crete. Yet, we hardly ever get together in large groups, or even know each other. Somewhat strange for our small community. We hope you’ll agree. This group is an attempt at bringing us all together for informal chats about what we’re all passionate about: technology and software. Join the meetup. Learn, teach, speak your mind.
